Love my Bell Influx and will buy anotherDec 28, 2007
By Mike in NC I just broke my Bell Influx helmet...the hard way. I was mountain biking and hooked a tree with my handlebars and went down, hitting my head on a massive root. The Bell Influx dented on the outside shell and broke clean through it's foam structure...just like it's supposed to do, absorbing the energy of the fall so that I won't. I'm happy to say that while I killed the helmet, I experienced no bruising, swelling, or pain. I love the fit, styling, and vents of the Influx and now I know it performs flawlessly in crashes as well. I intend to buy another Influx immediately!

This lightweight helmet fits comfortably while keeping my head cool.Sep 13, 2006

After too many years without a bike I finally decided it was time to buy one for commuting from work. Since the bike cost more than I planned for, I wanted to get a good helmet at the lowest price. I started by trying on lower priced helmets but just didn't get a comfortable fit. When I got to the Influx, the fit felt good. A month later, I'm still happy with my new helmet.
To get a proper fit, the straps must be properly adjusted. The five simple steps are detailed in the owner's manual complete with diagrams. Basically one wears the helmet in its proper position, adjusts the Cam-Lock adjustors, pull the chin strap tight, set the geared positioning system (GPS), and test the helmet's fit.
It is recommended that after an accident, the helmet be replaced, as damage is not always obvious. Bell offers a crash replacement policy for purchases in Canada and the US costing $35 in the states. Excessive heat can damage this helmet, store in a cool dry place when not in use. Heat damage is indicated by uneven or bubbly surfaces.
This lightweight helmet provides the protection I need, fits comfortably, and keeps my head cool. The Influx has proved to be a good purchase for me.
PROS:
Comfortable fit
Vented to keep you cool
Provides protection
CONS:
Removable visor can block too much field of vision at times.

Very pleasedSep 11, 2007
By Tess D I've used it twice on long bike rides in Houston and found it very comfortable and cool. As cool is being of great importance for Houston weather, so far, I am very pleased with my purchase.

Road Bike Crash in Bell InfluxAug 22, 2010
By Michelle S. I have had my Bell Influx for about 5 years. I have ridden triathlons and centuries in it, taken it offroad, and a couple of years ago wore it for an 800 mile road tour of New Zealand. I love the venting, comfort, and style of it. Last Sunday, I hit something (a large rock or pothole?) on my road bike. I was going about 25-30 mph when I lost control and went over the bars and landed on the pavement head first. I was knocked unconscious on impact and slid face down for 20 yards with my left leg tangled in the handlebars and my Bell helmet on my head. My helmet was destroyed (as it should be, cracked clean through in about 5 places), but my head suffered only a concussion from the initial impact - CAT scan showed no permanent brain damage. My helmet kept my face off of the ground a bit too so the road rash to my face was minimized. My nose was hit hard enough to give me two black eyes but was not broken. One week later, I am covered in road rash on my arms and legs but the road rash on my face is healed and I am back to life as usual. I feel like I put this helmut through the 'nightmare' scenario and I was able to walk myself out of the emergency room. When I went to buy a replacement helmet, my dad asked if this new one was the same quality as the old one...I said it was the same helmet (Bell Influx) and that seemed to comfort him. I feel that this helmet served me well and likely saved my life. Ride safe!

Can't Go Wrong with Bell!Aug 23, 2007
By Argyle ALL Bicycle helmets should be replaced after 1 - 3 seasons, depending on use. Over time, the injection-molded foam simply gets brittle and is no longer safe.
I'm getting ready to replace my Influx, and plan on getting another. It fits me perfectly, the Roc-Loc adjustment wheel is the best on the market, it comes in color schemes to match every taste, and it's reasonably priced. What more could you ask for?
