Great price for a decent bike helmetNov 08, 2005
By Jesse D. Walker I needed a bike helmet. This one was hard to pass up for this price. It's made by Bell, a well-known manufacturer. The helmet is rather simple. What you would get by spending more money on a different helmet would be one that was slightly lighter, with more air vents and a fancier strap adjusting mechanism. This helmet came with the visor (not yet attached, so you can put it on or not), three pieces of extra padding (thicker than the padding that comes installed in case you want to switch), and a generic instruction manual (written for all Bell helmets, not just this one). Anyway, it looks decent, and will protect its wearer in case of a crash as well as any other helmet.

cheap in price and in makeJun 05, 2007
By quackhead While shopping for a helmet, I noticed that this helmet had decent reviews and the price was good. However, after a couple of weeks of use the cheap plastic that attaches the strap to the helmet broke off. Looking at it and the design, I can see why it broke off. Without this attachment, the helmet is useless. Tried taping it, but the design makes it difficult for it to stay on.
I had purchased another product from Bell (the headlight and taillight combo) that also had incredibly poor quality parts and design flaws. This product was so poorly made, when I tried to insert the battery, the thing literally crumbled. Five different parts broke off in a snap.
It seems the company has been doing a lot of cost cutting and it really does show in its products.

Helmet doesn't adjust properly!Dec 19, 2007

Although this item is indicated to a range of sizes (and I picked a size with a similar range to my current bike helmet), this helmet just could not adjust to fit properly. There is no "band" around the head to adjust fit. So, although one could adjust the neckstrap to make the helmet more snug-seeming, it will never fit around your head properly (unless your head is the EXACT size).
With the fit of this helmet, frankly it isn't safe! This helmet I'm promptly returning.

saved my headMar 11, 2007

I had a wreck 3 weeks ago and the helmet did its job. My head hit the pavement on a fall during a training ride. The foam cracked instead of my skull. Many thanks to Bell for making a reasonably priced and effective product.
