Composite CF4 for the winSep 27, 2011
By Go Bruins This is the "end-loaded" version of the CF4 bat. After swinging it, my niece can't tell that there is much difference in terms of swing feel from the original CF4. If there is a difference, it's not dramatic.
Are composite bats worth the big $$$? Quite possibly. *If* your kid can generate enough bat speed to flex the composite walls, it could mean a real-world difference of 15'-30' in terms of softball flight, compared to a run-of-the-mill cheapie aluminum bat. Not only that, grounders come off the bat hotter, which means a better chance of getting past the infield or finding a gap. From our perspective, it was worth the money. As much at these bats cost, a lot of people are tempted to buy a bat that's too big/heavy for a kid, in the hopes of having the kid grow into it. Problem is, a heavy bat dampens bat speed, and these bats demand bat speed to order make them work. If your kid plays high-level softball, it's best to bite the bullet and fork out the $$$ on a yearly basis.
Note that there is a break-in period typical of composite bats. Some people say it takes about a hundred swings before the composite fibers loosen up, and max trampoline effect is reached. These composite bats also have a useful lifespan of maybe 500 hits, after which performance begins to slowly diminish, so I wouldn't use a bat like this for batting practice, etc.

I orderd this bat from Amazon after seeing it on other sites for well over $100.00 more. The bat arrived when promised and my daughter could not be happier.
