Our family purchased this book at a local book signing event in Seattle. I was impressed by the depth and quantity of information about horses! I had no idea there was so much to know about horses. This book has so much entertainment value for horse lovers of all ages. I think the book would make a special gift for children, pre-teens and teens that are into "all things horsey". I am not big horse fan and found the book to be a good read, interesting, entertaining, and well written. My daughter recommends it highly to keep up with her "horse crazy friends". 5 STARS!

We got this book before the author was going to be a local book store doing a signing and horsey party. The book is FULL of horse information yet its easy to read. Also a great reference go-to with horse questions. My 8 year old daughter loves this book and carried it all around with her for the first few weeks she had it. Now it stays next to her bed at all times and she often flips through it. Perfect for any girl who loves horses!

Bought this for my granddaughter but her sister got to it first (she is only 8) and couldn't understand what she was reading by reading "Contents." But it turns out that they both couldn't get enough of the book. Great "textbook" with airy illustrations that captivated my girls hearts. Thank you.

Bought this for an animal-loving daughter of a friend of mine who - like every other girl and woman I know - has, or once had, a special fondness for horses. Thing is, I sort of wanted to keep it for my own library! The book is chock full of facts and interesting trivia as well as tips for girls wishing to find out how to get more involved with horses either for fun or work. I also enjoyed that the author's daughter, a horse-crazy 14 yr-old, contributed her own tips and perspective.
If you are a woman looking for a book for a horse-crazy girl in your own life, watch out because this one's a keeper. You'll want to give yourself plenty of time to look through it before the gift wrapping goes on!

I got this book for Christmas last year, and am totally in love with it! Even though I already knew a lot about horses, this book taught me even more. Nice illustrations, nice writing, nice quality.
I've already read the whole book, but when you read it again it's still just as interesting as the first time around. It also has sections on horse colors, breeds, history (evolution), tack, rider outfit, top ten horse movies, top ten horse books, and about everything else you can imagine (including how big a horse's stomach is!).
Overall, love this book, and this is a super gift for anyone who love's horses.
