Really comfortable & Stays put on floor!Jan 02, 2006
By A. Boyd Bought this to do pilates on my hardwoods. Really the perfect amount of cushion & does not move with rolling exercises. Great for spine and hipbones. Came rolled up and the edge still doesn't want to completely unfold, that's why it gets 4 instead of 5. I'm sure it will eventually come out but it should've been packaged more carefully. Also, since it is thicker than a normal mat, it takes up a little more room, but it is worth the comfort!

Odorless and softMar 14, 2009
By Bub I have a tiled living room floor as well as something of a scant rear-end, so on a regular, thin pilates mat any situp-like movement causes just enough discomfort to allow me an excuse not to do them. And so, depending on how you look at it this mat is either a great gift or a great curse to me, because I'm left with no excuses not to exercise (besides laziness, which I of course re-name very cleverly, but that's better left to another discussion I suppose). The mat is thick and pillowy without being squishy, so it allows one to put all their weight on bony areas like tailbones and knees without sacrificing (much) stability. I haven't used it for balance intensive Yoga poses so I can't comment on how it would perform in that arena.
So why did I only give it 4 stars instead of 5? Because I'm terribly picky mainly, and the mat I received was different from the one pictured both on Amazon's product page as well as on the GoFit website. The ridges on mine run vertically from top to bottom rather than horizontally as pictured. Also I don't care for the color much, which is a paler and more sterile looking blue in real life (though I might be able to use that as an excuse not to use it now that I've thought of it, so this might actually be a positive characteristic...) It also doesn't want to lay totally flat after unrolling it, but I'm not sure any mat that's kept rolled up would do so anyway. Again, it's only fair to state that these negatives haven't played any major role in its performance, just that they were annoying enough to keep it from getting 5 stars from me.
Oh, one other thing I must mention is that the mat is more or less odorless. I read in reviews for many other mats that they had a room-filling rubber stench that was impossible to get rid of and this played a big role in my decision to try this one over others. I'm happy to report there are no stinky rooms in my house, mat related or otherwise. And so now, as for excuses not to exercise, I think I better write a few more of these reviews...

Great for pilatesNov 09, 2006
By Wendy Kennedy I love this mat for my pilates class - it's nice and thick, yet grips well for standing positions. Easy to roll up and keep in my car, too. I highly recommend this for pilates exercise classes. You will appreciate it when doing "rolling like a ball"!

Good bye old purple yoga mat, hello blue heaven! GoFit's Pilates Mat is exceptional, and the price for such comfort.....absolutely reasonable - underpriced if anything! I have bought a couple of mats searching for enough cushioning to use on hardwood floors & only got bruises. If you have hardwood floors or any hard surface - you must get this mat, if I could give more stars I would =)
The curling issue, not a biggie. Keep the box it comes rolled up in, and reverse roll it. After each use, roll up opposite of last roll and place it back in box.
I LOVE THIS, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!

Low density makes this mat feel thinDec 26, 2007
By M. Jackson I bought three of these mats for my Pilates studio. They were similar in size, thickness, and description to some discontinued mats I bought & loved (from another company) a few years ago. They were also comparably priced. When I got the mats I liked the size, shape and feel of them, but quickly realized that their thickness in particular was deceiving. The mats have so much give or squish to them that you feel like you are sticking to them because your body sinks into it - almost to the point of feeling the floor. Your body leaves an imprint in the mat even after a few seconds of standing or sitting on it. My clients take these mats out of the pile last because no one likes them. Bottom line: Don't waste your money on these cheap mats - I would return them if I could!
