 Design flaw in top strap renders them useless and dangerousFeb 09, 2011

My daughter loved everything about these skates, except that the top strap constantly comes loose. That strap is critical to a safe and proper fit, so the skates are basically useless without it. I was going to exchange for the same model, but after reading other reviews, it seems that the strap problem is quite common. I will have to look for another brand.

Perhaps I should have read the other reviews before buying - the clamp on the top part of the skates on one of the skates I bought was faulty and pops opn under load, consistent with a review I saw from someone else. It will cost too much to send them back so we will just have to put up with it unfortunately, perhaps using some sort of elastic tie. Otherwise it is a good beginner skate and is comfortable. The fact that they are adjustable was a big selling point but let down but the faulty clamp.

I bought these for my 8 year old daughter. She had tried several different types of skates and they were always uncomfortable or not warm enough. She tried these on and instantly loved them. She is a recreational skater so because they change sizes, they should last her about 5 years. They adjust very easily with the push of a button and offer great ankle support. They were delivered 4 days ahead of the estimate. We are very satisfied.

Picked these up simply to avoid paying for rentals. The sizes run a bit big and although the boot is soft and comfortablem it is a bit clunky. But well, they work and now my child has learned how to skate.
The factory sharpening wasn't bad (fairly hollow cut too, which is good for kids, especially for beginners).
Would have gotten more stars for a more lightweight design and slightly simpler fastening mechanism on the top. But again, it works.

The skating shoe is good for my 6 year old daughter, but the problem is that the upper strap in just a piece of crap! it keeps getting lose and come out jeopardising my daughter's balance. A velcro would have been much better. I bought it keeping in mind that I do not have to but a skate every year, but it looks like my daughter cannot use it when she develops more skills in skating, as it is not safe to wear these skates. I wish I could return it to amazon and get money back!
