My 5 year old love itApr 03, 2010
By Jill Morris This seems to be a decent quality bike for our 5 year old. My husband is a professional bike builder and technician and he put the bike together in less than 30 minutes. It has a decent headset and wheels with real tires, which was important to my husband. My daughter loves it and it is pretty cute. It is a girl bike without being too girly. The white tires are very cute. We hope this bike will last a few years for our daughter.

Great starter bike.... My 3 y.o. loves it!!Sep 26, 2010
By V. Fauconniere I was ready to get a bike for my daughter, so after much comparing of different sizes and brands I decided to skip the 12 inch and start with a 16 inch. My 3 y.o. is pretty tall for her age (39 1/2 inches) so I was pleased with the size I had chosen. She gets on the bike very well and although she can't fully touch the ground while seated, she can reach with her toe off to one side. With her rate of growth, by the time she is ready to ride without training wheels, she will be tall enough to reach, so 16 inch was a perfect size to start with. I love the idea the tires are real, air filled tires and was very very easy to put together. This bike definately receives 2 thumbs up from both my husband and myself. I feel this bike will probably get a few years of use until she's ready for the next size. Highly recommended.

Good price, good quality, good packagingNov 28, 2010
By Joe M. I looked at the reviews for a number of kids bikes and a lot of them complained about poor packaging and shipping damage. I ordered this one with some hesitation, but the price was right. To my pleasant surprise, this item was well packaged and came out of the box without a single scratch, ding, or dent. The instructions are worthless, but the assembly is somewhat intuitive for anyone who has put together stuff before. Make sure you have a metric 16 mm wrench for assembly. Of course, I had only a 15 mm and 17 mm. To bike is solid and works well. I haven't given it to my daughter yet, but I took a little spin on it myself to "test" it. If it handles a 200 lb guy, it should hold up for the kids.

Santa brought this bike to our 4 year old daughter. She loves it! My husband is a seasoned cyclist and thought it was fine for a first bike after riding a trike. It is not complicated to put together if you use a wrench, not pliers like somebody else did. She has really enjoyed going on bike rides with mom and dad and so far, so good. I recommend it.

wrong picture displayedDec 14, 2011
By Dingo Delivery Update: Apparently Amazon read my review (or got complaints) because within days, they put up the correct picture. The 16 inch Mantis Maya is in fact blue. My daughter didn't care that it was blue. She was just grateful for the bike.
Previous Review:
Amazon has the wrong picture displayed. I thought I was buying a pink bike. What a surprise to find that it's blue... more of a turquoise. I came back to look at it and noticed someone else experienced the same thing. Looking into it a little, I realized that Amazon has the picture for the Mantis "Lil" Maya, which is a pink 12 inch bike. This was not an error in sending the wrong item. It is an error in the picture for this item. The Mantis Maya is in fact a blue bike, not pink. Just putting that out there for other parents that may be looking for a pink bike. The blue is not horrible. It still looks like a girl's bike. This would be perfect for my second daughter who loves blue, but I was buying this for my first daughter who loves pink. The bike looks sturdy. It is a Christmas present, so it hasn't been used yet.
