When I opened the package I was somewhat surprised at the quality of the helmet. It feels more secure and stable than helmets I've worn in the past. I bought one for my 9-yr. old daughter also. I feel more secure when riding a horse while I have this helmet on. The only thing I can say about it is that the sizes run bigger than a Troxel helmet. I was a size small in Troxel and went to a medium in Tipperary.

I lived by my Troxel but when it got damaged (Thankfully not while upon my head) my husband gave me his Sportage. I had scoffed previously but had no choice since we couldn't get a new one at the time.
Wow was I wrong. This helmet is very comfortable. It fits snugly yet without a confining feeling and has lots of airflow so I didn't sweat like sometimes happened in the old helmet.
The adjustments and straps don't pinch and are easy to use. With all the color choices and sizes Tipperary has finally made a helmet I can't put down.
Whether you pick this one or another though- I'm just glad you want to wear one! Keep that noggin whole. Cracked heads do no one any good!

I ABSOLUTLEY LOVE MY TIPPERARY SPORTAGE HELMET! Its very confortable and it looks great! I own the older one though. i think i got mine in 2008 or so. I have had some heavy falls on it though. I once fell over the head of my big (over 16 hands high) Appendix Thoroughbred/quarterhorse, and landed right on my head. It just got a TINY scratch. The helmit was great, and the padding really comforted my head when i landed on it. I was alright, no concussion or anything, i owe it to my helmet, its great! i am verry happy with my helmet. It is confy, looks great on me, and is verry tough. buy this helmet and you will have it for years, happy with it i garentee!
