4functional, almost comfortableAug 26, 2010

This is a great item that I would generally recommend to women doing high contact sports. I suggest never taking the cup out - just toss the whole thing in the wash when you are done for the day. There are two things that bother me about it that I wish I could change:
First, the pocket that the cup is placed in is arranged so that you cannot get the hard plastic piece in and out of the shorts without taking off the whole mess - the opening is between the pocket and the shorts, so the pocket and the elastic holding straps must be pulled out of the shorts to access the pocket. (I use this for Society for Creative Anachronism heavy combat) I have this piece inside several other layers of armor and it would be a lot more comfortable to be able to take the hard piece out without having to strip out of everything.
Second, the inner elastic straps that hold the cup close to you are a lot tighter than the rest of the shorts. The shorts fit and are a little large, but the elastic strap digs in and cuts of circulation a little. I may try cutting the elastic out entirely - the shorts should hold the cup in place just fine.
Overall, I like it. About as comfortable as cups get and perfectly functional.

I had a hard time finding this item in stores in Utah, and I was skeptical of buying it online, but it's been great and I'm glad I did.

4Meant for hockeyOct 09, 2010

I thought this might be a good groin protector when used for martial arts, as it is very similar to the male's groin cup. It worked well, however it is uncomfortably wide when standing with your feet together.

I think it is probably great to use in hockey, as you don't stand with your feet together.

Since I was using the shorts/cup for what it was not intended for I gave it 4 stars, as it is a good product, just too wide.
