• Unlike conventional fins that force the foot to push water in a flat plane, much like an old paddlewheel, the unique split blades slice through the water with two winged surfaces creating lift and forward propulsion much like a propeller.
• SplitFins operate more efficiently than 'paddle' bladed fins by mimicking a user's natural kicking cadence.
• This ensures a more even distribution of resistance during the upswing and down thrust motions of the kicking cycle, working both muscle groups equally to help build leg strength and power output.
• The SplitFin functions optimally with a tighter, higher frequency kick for maximum performance power and speed training benefit.
• This type of kick simulates the natural 'turnover' rate an athlete can only achieve at race pace.

good for swim trainingAug 27, 2007
By J. soong Before buying, you should note that these fins are designed for swim training. Unlike dive fins, which makes your kick more efficient so you can do lazy kicks & still swim as fast, these fins will make you work! The fins have stiff blades & are designed to maintain your normal kick cadence & amplitude. They work your muscles & are supposed to improve your flutter kick so you will swim faster without them. The fins seems to be working as designed. Will I swim faster? Time will tell. BTW - try them with dolphin kicks too.

They look like they are good. Others have used them, but i cannot. If you have wide feet, stay away. Not even with boot goo (used for wake boarding), will these fit.

Split finJan 28, 2007
By Arthur Constance The fit and comfort are excellent, but I feel they are a little too flexible and tend to fold under if you walk with them while in the water.
This might be part of the design as they are stiffer in the up direction when swimming an are sold as training fins.
Great so FarMar 22, 2012
By Laura Marie Romanchik Started swimming to get into shape (I spent 12 years swimming competitively and then spent all 4 years of college doing absolutely nothing) and I have to say, I wish I had these fins back then! They are great for leg workouts and feel AMAZING when swimming butterfly. I wish you could get the fins in different sizes/colors (my tiny orange ones clash with my green swim attire), but that really isn't a big deal.
I choose 2 sizes smaller than what was listed and that worked just fine for me. The exact sizes were not provided when I bought these from Amazon, so I went to tyr.com to look up the sizing chart (in men's sizes):
XXS(1-2), XS(3-4), S(5-6), M(6-7), L(8-9), XL(10-11), XXL(12-13), XXXL(13-14)
They are a little awkward to use when doing a flip-turn and pushing off the wall- I still have not figured out how to make that work. However, this is probably the case for any fins you try. Overall, good buy for a decent price, and I was encouraged by the other reviews on here about how long they have lasted!
NIce finsFeb 01, 2012
By Justin These are nice fins. Comfortable to use in the water, gives more propulsion than Zoomers but less than a scuba diving fin. Sizing seems to be true to size. I usually wear a size 11 shoe, and according to the size chart I ordered an XL. They are a good snug fit with no slipping at the heel.
